Make a Long URL into
a Shorter One
One of the problems of being online so much
is trying to remember URLS. Some useful ones are so long,
it seems there must be a better way.
Well, it's not a perfect solution, but using
a URL shortening service can help. The basic premise, is to
enter a long URL, and the short URL service will create a
new version of it using THEIR URL and a code attached to the
end.
Another variation is the service provides you
with a subdomain a la http://randomword.notlong.com. Which
service you go with depends on your preference and the level
of service you really need.
Some service do not require a registration to
create a short URL, and others do. Personally I like NOT registering
to use a service, but chances are the better services require
a sign-up.
